More State Envy on Falcon Lake

After the Texas DPS unveiled a new fleet of gunboats that trump everything else on Falcon Lake we reviewed some related news articles and found more cause for state envy. Reading up on a joint operation between the U.S. Coast Guard and Texas Game Wardens we found some major discrepancies in the quality of their gear. Now we know a good man can make due, but a decade old primary weapon model and a flotation vest that acts like a bullseye? Granted we didn’t include the U.S. Border Patrol, whose special agents are generally well equipped, but we had to limit the comparison to what we could see in photos. Same goes for the below boat comparison, which the USCG wins until DPS splashes.

Note – get an M4 with an optic and a vest that doesn’t restrict movement or access to the weapons belt. Good idea to wear a vest with a dark cover too. You know, to make it at least a little challenging for a bad guy to find his target and level the sights.

Nothing says, “Look! Here I am!” Like an international orange PFD. The “friendly service” strikes again.

Secondary weapon, I have no complaints. Big fan of the Sig since inception.

Primary?! Don’t get me started. Unless you’re attached to MSST or MSRT, forget about it. You’ll never see anything other than M16 with iron sights. Sad, but true.
